A piggyback label is a multilayer construction in which the top self-adhesive label can be removed and applied somewhere else. Depending on the construction, the lower layer stays on the initial surface or acts as a carrier.
How do the layers work?
The top label sits on a release-coated intermediate layer. When removed, it retains its adhesive so it can be transferred to a document, package or another surface. The lower construction varies by product.
Typical applications
Logistics, inventory, work-in-process, returns documents and promotions where information must travel between two locations can benefit from this format.
What to specify
Explain where the top label will be moved, whether information must stay underneath, the surfaces involved and the adhesive requirements. Check barcode legibility and printer compatibility on actual material.
